Among the rice fields for the Owls and bats
The monitoring campaign of the Owl in the province of Milan continues, although the number of participants is still fairly low.
Again, as in previous years, the title of best group of detectors is for now to be allocated to the Voluntary Ecological Guards Groane Park, Stan proceeding in surveys throughout the protected area.
last night and I have made an exit in Calvi Gianpiero near Taine, in the municipality of Noviglio.
After the burst of thunderstorms in the afternoon, the evening was pleasant in terms of climate and it was interesting to note in the area of \u200b\u200brice fields.
The environment is not the most suitable for the owl, which, however, has been contacted by several people near some farms and rows of rice paddies.
In terms of game was overall a interesting night for many lapwings around us, in the countryside. The owl was quick to be heard by an artificial grove in response to calls issued by us. It is also a lack of representation of the herpetological world, with different individuals singing frog.
For the occasion we brought a bat-detector , but contacts of bats were very few (three in the whole evening, due to two species). In part it is due to its visit, and in part to the season is still early for our little eaters of flying insects!
From now on, with the advance of the season, will try to combine the findings of the Owl and bats in our outlets ... those wishing to participate to get to know this part of the people of the night is welcome!
Tonight repeats with a new evening of readings and the beginning of next week we try again ... Keep an eye on the calendar the Blog!

Tomorrow, Friday, April 9, will place the last 12 Bat-box built specifically to accommodate the bats of Molgora Park. The first 18 have been placed, thanks largely to the work of Felice Farina (you can see the work in the photo) in three different areas of the plis.
The 12-Bat boxes will be placed in two other areas deemed appropriate. In a few months to verify their employment. To participate in the initiative or for further information, please contact Felice Farina ( faunaviva.felice @ gmail.com).
