Closes tomorrow's first International Seminar of the Commedia dell'Arte in Pescara
A workshop led by Silvano Torrieri
tomorrow will end the 30-hour workshop conducted on the Commedia dell'Arte dall'abruzzese Silvano Torriero, who attended the School of Theatre of the Piccolo Teatro of Milan, directed by Giorgio Strehler, and was a student and assistant of Ferruccio Soleri, the most famous interpreter of the mask of Harlequin. The primary objective of the International Seminar of the Commedia dell'Arte has been recalled and illustrate its importance as the foundation of the Italian theatrical tradition oldest, and therefore the basis of all the traditions of European drama, as well as a springboard for the Italian language.
The workshop was held, with hours from 9 to 12.30 and 15-18, in two weekends (Saturday 13 and Sunday, June 14 and today and tomorrow, ie Saturday 20 and Sunday, June 21) at the Piccolo Teatro of Gascon via dei Marsi 41, thanks to the cooperation of the Gascon Theatre Company.

The study of the Commedia dell'Arte be traced back to the primordial ingredients of the scenic and gestural communication. To this aim must be added not only the preparation to deal with texts from that period, but also the ability to deal more learning Italian language and also to investigate the technique of the actor in general, strengthening its ability to dominate them completely. The workshop is sponsored by the Abruzzo Region and the Province and the Municipality of Pescara.
Students in the workshop, coming from outside the region, have retraced the origin and character of the masks with the help of slides depicting paintings and prints relating to the characters of the Commedia dell'Arte and their predecessors. They analyzed the meaning and use of mask, intended as an alternative face with their characters, experimenting with various historical stylization (Zanni, Pantalone, Brighella, The Doctor, The Captain, Columbine, Harlequin) movements, gestures and drama unique to each character. The students also tried to improvise short scenes between inventing different masks, setting the stage to a real theater
Torrieri Silvano was born in Teramo and lives in Pescara. From 1987 to 1990 he attended the most important Italian theater school, the School of Theatre of the Piccolo Teatro of Milan, directed by Giorgio Strehler. What today is his humble professionalism is given by three years of study in which the valuable lessons strehleriani have added valuable experience with prominent personalities from the world of theater such as, for example, Ferruccio Soleri, Andrea Jonasson, Giulia Lazzarini Franco Graziosi, Gianfranco Mauri, Dario Del Corno, and Marise Flach.
