EcoArt: WHEN NATURE ART Becomes
Date: 02-12/12/2010
Location: Pianoro (Bologna)
Coordinators and Participants: 18 (8 +1 Italian, English 8 +1)
The project stems from the need to attract young people to issues environment, aware that a real active citizenship also involves the awareness of the importance of preserving our planet, all too often exploited and abused. The aim is to give to the young people who participate in the exchange back to nature, rediscovering the value of the essential things and the importance of sharing experiences related to this theme. This will be done through art, specifically: photography, comics, video editing. Young people will be in fact the architects drawing of art materials, all toghether the same general theme is the environment.
These basic ideas are intertwined with another goal project, which is to win and overcome cultural barriers that, in a multiethnic society such as ours may hamper the social and human growth of the young.
In line with the objective of the Year on the active participation of youth in global challenge, the exchange aims to increase awareness of children in their role as active citizens in a globalized world and to foster their sense of global solidarity and commitment to current environmental issues.
Participation in the exchange of young people from different socio-cultural and migrant Roma and Sinti could lead to a potential challenge to the integration process due to its cultural misunderstandings and / or language. The very participation in the exchange is a good opportunity for personal growth, and open-minded approach to another. Participants will have the opportunity to meet and mingle with people who have lived different histories and come from situations of social and / or staff that may cause marginalization.
This comparison will help to take a path and promote the cultural self-awareness of aging as a subject of identity, rights and duties, of belonging to a community.
Participants will increase their sensitivity to issues related to environmental protection by encouraging the critical differences even in the face of the practices in different countries on this issue which is one of global challenges.
The exchange, in fact, aims to create a sense of responsibility and ecological awareness and at the same time allows participants to explore and learn about art forms like comics, photography and video and, based on their interests, learn the language and methodologies. They will be in first person, divided into three groups, to decide how to use these three means of artistic expression, planning activities on green issues, developing new skills and interests.
Participants are not asked for any prior knowledge about photography, video or cartoon. A general understanding will be given at the beginning of the exchange and will be offered to them all the means to learn these techniques.
